Value management study on the future heat supply at a generation site

A German utility was planning to switch from coal-fired to renewable heat supply as part of the energy transition. Fichtner was contracted to carry out a value management study prior to developing an innovative, techno-economically optimized heat supply concept. A renewable heat generation concept was developed both for a single generation site and for the entire heat network. In addition, a detailed plant deployment calculation was conducted for the base, intermediate and peak loads, and the technical feasibility of converting the existing firing plant to other energy sources was examined. Parallel to this, a BoFiT calculation was performed together with the customer, to identify the technically and economically optimum option for the overall concept. The results of the calculation and a recommendation concerning the best option were submitted to the client by FICHTNER.
